Equipment Storage in Dubai
Contractors, trades and event businesses all share a problem: the kit is expensive, it is needed intermittently, and between jobs it lives in a van, a villa garage or a corner of somebody's office. Storing it properly is one of the plainer uses of business storage in Dubai.
Two rules govern almost everything here and both are safety rather than preference: nothing with fuel in it, and lithium batteries must be raised before booking. Petrol tools, generators and gas equipment cannot be stored, and a degraded lithium pack in a hot warehouse is a genuine fire risk.
Everything else — hand tools, corded power tools, scaffolding, staging, cabling, test equipment, catering kit — stores straightforwardly, indoors and racked, at AED 12.65 per sq ft per month, VAT included.
The fuel and battery rules, in detail
Petrol and diesel equipment cannot be stored with fuel in it. Generators, compactors, pressure washers, cut-off saws and pumps all fall in here. Drained and dried, most can be stored; with a full tank they cannot travel in the van, let alone sit in a warehouse.
Gas equipment cannot be stored at all while it holds a cylinder. Cylinders go back to the supplier. This catches catering and event businesses more than construction ones.
Lithium batteries need raising at quoting. Cordless tool packs, survey equipment, drone batteries and large power banks all need discussing rather than arriving in a crate. Packs stored around half charge degrade far less than packs stored full or flat, which is worth knowing whoever holds them.

Event and AV kit

Catering equipment
Cleaned thoroughly first — anything organic left on equipment is a pest problem rather than a smell one. Gas cylinders go back to the supplier.
Survey and test equipment
Cased, and with batteries discussed at booking. Calibration dates are worth diarising before a long storage period.
Preparing equipment for a long gap
- Drain fuel from anything that holds it, and run it dry rather than just emptying the tank.
- Clean and fully dry everything. Corrosion in storage is almost always a damp-when-stored problem.
- Remove and separately handle lithium batteries; raise anything non-removable at booking.
- Case what has a case. Flight-cased and boxed equipment racks properly; loose equipment costs more space and travels worse.
- Photograph configurations and label cables per unit, the same as with any IT equipment.
- Note calibration and service due dates before storing, and diarise them — equipment that comes out of storage out of calibration is not usable on day one.
- Tell us the total weight if you are storing anything heavy, so it is racked appropriately.
