Pallet Storage in Dubai
Palletised goods are the easiest thing to store well and the easiest thing to get wrong before they arrive. Almost every problem is decided by the pallet itself rather than by the warehouse, and that is worth knowing before the truck leaves your supplier. This is the palletised end of business storage in Dubai.
Pallets are racked rather than floor-stacked, which is what allows any pallet to be reached without moving the ones in front of it — and it is the difference between a 24-hour release and a two-day one.
Pallet bookings are quoted on the number of positions and the movement pattern rather than purely on floor area, because a pallet that moves weekly costs more to handle than one that sits for a year.
What decides whether a pallet stores well
The pallet itself. A broken, split or non-standard pallet cannot be racked safely and has to be re-palletised on arrival, which is a cost and a delay. Check the condition of what your supplier is sending, because you will be told about it at our gate rather than at theirs.
How it is wrapped. Loosely wrapped loads shift in transit and arrive leaning. A leaning pallet cannot go into a rack and has to be rebuilt. Wrap tightly, corner-board anything with sharp edges, and do not overhang the pallet footprint.
Overhang. Goods that extend past the pallet edge are the single most common reason a load cannot be racked. Rack beams are sized to the pallet, not to your box dimensions.
Weight and distribution. Tell us the weight per pallet. A heavy pallet is fine; an unexpectedly heavy pallet arriving unannounced is a handling problem, and an unevenly loaded one is a safety problem.
Pallet storage at a glance
| Question | Standard answer | Tell us if different |
|---|---|---|
| Pallet type | Standard Euro or industry pallet | Non-standard, oversized or slip-sheeted loads |
| Racking | Racked, individually reachable | If you want cheaper floor-stacked block storage |
| Release time | 24–48 hours on notice | If you need same-day as a regular pattern |
| Inbound | Received with advance notice | Unannounced deliveries may be turned away |
| Stacking | Not stacked unless designed to be | If your loads are designed to double-stack |
| Counting | Counted in against your reference | If batch or serial tracking is needed |
Floor-stacked block storage is cheaper per pallet and slower to retrieve from, because pallets at the back are behind pallets at the front. It suits stock that goes in and comes out as a whole batch — see warehouse storage for that shape.
Before your pallets arrive
- Send the delivery note and expected pallet count in advance. Unannounced trucks are the main cause of a wasted delivery run.
- Confirm weight per pallet and whether any are unevenly loaded.
- Check nothing overhangs the pallet footprint. This is the commonest reason a load has to be rebuilt on arrival.
- Wrap tightly and corner-board sharp edges. A load that shifts in transit arrives unrackable.
- Say whether the loads are designed to be double-stacked. Most are not, and we will not assume it.
- Give us your own pallet reference so releases can be requested against it — see inventory storage on why your references rather than new ones.
