Office Storage in Dubai

Office moves in Dubai rarely line up cleanly. The old lease ends before the new fit-out finishes, or a downsizing leaves two floors of furniture with nowhere to go — and that gap is the most common commercial booking in business storage in Dubai.

Collections are normally done outside working hours or over a weekend, because an office cannot be emptied around people trying to work in it, and most buildings restrict move-outs to specific windows anyway.

Everything is logged at item level — desks, chairs, screens, storage units, IT — so what comes back is what went in, and so an asset register can be reconciled afterwards rather than reconstructed.

The three shapes an office booking takes

The lease gap. The old office has to be handed back on a date; the new one is not ready. Everything goes into storage for the gap and comes out to the new address. This is the simplest case and the most common.

The fit-out. You are staying in the building but the floor is being rebuilt. Furniture and IT go out, the work happens, and it comes back in stages as areas are finished — the same room-by-room logic as a home renovation, at a larger scale.

The downsizing. You are taking less space and have more furniture than the new floor holds. The surplus is stored while you decide whether to sell it, keep it for a future expansion, or use it in a second location. This is the one where storage most often prevents a bad decision made under time pressure.

In all three the constraint is the building rather than the furniture. Most Dubai commercial towers require move-out permits, restrict the service lift to defined windows, and want the crew registered — all of which is arranged in advance rather than negotiated on the day.

Getting an office move right

  • Confirm the building's move-out window and permit requirements at both addresses, not just the one you are leaving.
  • Back up and image every machine before it moves, and take the drives out of anything critical.
  • Photograph the desk and cable layout per workstation. Reassembly without it takes far longer than anyone budgets.
  • Label by department and destination, not by which room it came from — the new floor plan is not the old one.
  • Decide what is not going before the day. An office move is where the surplus furniture problem gets discovered at 9pm.
  • Keep original licences, leases and statutory documents with you rather than in a box — see document storage for the archive side.
  • Tell us the item count and whether desks are bench-style or individual. It changes the crew size more than the headcount does.

What an office collection takes

Office sizeTypical crew timeApprox. stored space
Up to 10 desksHalf a day80–150 sq ft
10–30 desksA full day150–400 sq ft
30–60 desksA weekend400–800 sq ft

Anything above about 30 desks we would rather survey than estimate. It is free, and on an office move a wrong estimate is a failed handover rather than an inconvenience.

Common questions

Yes, and for most offices that is how it is done — evenings or a weekend, because an office cannot be cleared around people working in it and most towers restrict move-outs to defined windows anyway.

We arrange the service lift booking and crew registration at both addresses. Tell us both buildings when you book, because people routinely arrange the move-out and forget the move-in slot.

Yes. Back up and image machines first and remove drives holding anything critical — storage should not be the only copy of your data. Screens are stored upright and cables bagged per workstation.

That is what the storage is for. Billing is monthly with no fixed end date, so a fit-out that overruns costs the extra weeks and needs no renegotiation.

Yes, and for a phased fit-out that is normal — areas get refurnished as they are completed, so the business can occupy the finished part while work continues elsewhere.

Store it while you decide rather than deciding in the last week of a lease. A few months of storage regularly costs less than the difference between a considered disposal and a rushed one.

Moving or refitting an office?

Send the desk count and both building names. That is enough to plan the whole thing.
