This page exists because “24/7 access” is the most over-promised phrase in storage, and the gap between what it suggests and what it means is where most complaints in this industry start. So here is the precise version for self storage in Dubai as we run it.
24/7 facility access is available for existing customers on request. Every word there is load-bearing. Existing customers, on request — meaning arranged in advance — rather than a door code and a car park you can drive into at 3am.
Our office and collection hours are Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm, seven days a week with no separate weekend schedule. Access outside those hours is arranged rather than assumed.
Why it works this way
Because your goods are not in a unit you rent. They are racked in a working warehouse alongside other customers' goods, which is the reason you are billed for the space your things occupy rather than for a fixed unit you have to fill.
That trade is what makes the service cheaper and removes the van hire, and the cost of it is precisely this: somebody has to bring your items to you rather than you walking to them. When you tell us in advance, that person has already done it before you arrive. When you turn up unannounced, they have not.
If unaccompanied access genuinely matters more to you than the collection service — if you need to get to your things at midnight without telling anyone — a self-storage yard with individual units is the better product and we would rather say so on this page than sell you the wrong thing. For most requests, delivery is quicker than a visit and costs less of your day. People ask to visit when what they actually want is one box back — what a month costs is unaffected either way.
How to make access easy for yourself
Almost all of this is decided at collection, not later.
- Tell the crew which cartons you may want early. They get racked where they can be reached without moving everything else, and it costs nothing.
- Keep your copy of the signed inventory. Asking for “the box with the documents” is slow; asking for item 34 is not.
- Name anyone else who may collect on your behalf, in advance and in writing.
- Do not store what you will need at short notice — passports, Emirates ID, medication, chargers, tenancy paperwork.
- If your dates are tight, say so when booking rather than on the day. Late June and August are the busiest weeks of the Dubai year.
